Rabbi Shawn Fields-Meyer, a native of Portland, Oregon, received her B.A. in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania in 1989. After studying Torah for two years at the Pardes Institute in Jerusalem, she received a Master's in Hebrew Letters from the University of Judaism in 1994, and was ordained in 1998 by the Jewish Theological Seminary of America.
Rabbi Fields-Meyer enjoys active, participatory Torah study and appreciates the deep connection between our ancient tradition and our modern lives. She taught for ten years at the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies as an Instructor in Bible. She is the co-author of thebook, A Day Apart: Shabbat at Home, a practical and spiritual guide to the home rituals of Shabbat.
Rabbi Fields-Meyer and her husband, Tom, a journalist, have three son: Ami, Ezra and Noam.
